Welcome to Department of English

The department of English has the same year of inception as Arts, Commerce and Science College, Satral, in 1998. The Department offers 3 years Under-Graduate program and 2 years Post- Graduate Program. The department provides intensive mentoring to the students both in and beyond the classroom in a wide variety of forum. As a part of it, the department has ‘FILM CLUB’ with the aim to entertain students and relieve them from routine activities. Online lectures, film screening, seminar, workshop on interdisciplinary themes are the part our academic calendar. The department has the Language Laboratory with audio-visual aids. In the academic year 2010, the department began ‘A Certificate Course in English Proficiency’ with purpose to bring backward and rural students in the stream of globalization.
Aims and Objectives:
  • To develop the communicative skills of the students and thereby develop their proficiency in English language.
  • To acquaint the students with the different modes of Communication in the context of modern life.
  • To impress upon their minds the importance and value of Communication in personality development and career prospects.
  • To enhance their employment opportunities in communication based careers.

  • Organized One Day Workshop and Seminar on ‘English Language Today’ and ‘Recent Trends in Modern British Drama’ Respectively
  • Faculty has completed a Minor research project in English Language Teaching of Rs. 75,000/-
  • Four students participated in ‘Avishkar’ at Zonal Level in 2009 and two students at University Level in 2010
